The "
Firewaves " working group, created in November 2007, aims at:
¤
better characterize tsunamigenic eruptive and gravitational processes
¤
model these processes and the related tsunamis.
¤
identify and interpret past events through their deposits.
¤
assess present-day and future hazards.
26
scientists, 11 countries and 5 main sites of investigations:
(1) Sunda
Strait - Krakatau 1883 tsunamis.
(2) Lake
Akademia - Karymsky 1996 tsunami.
(3) Reunion

These
investigations are funded by the CNRS and the French National Agency in
the framework of a ANR "Jeune Chercheur" project (2009-2012).
